The event will feature dramatic readings of several of Poe’s most celebrated works, including his 1845 masterpiece “The Raven.” Library staff members Daniel Lelievre, Joyce Pinsonnault and David Mello will bring to life several of his most memorable poems, such as “The Bells,” “Annabel Lee” and “The Haunted Palace.” Concluding the afternoon will be a one-man presentation of one of Poe’s most popular tales of terror, “The Tell-Tale Heart.”
Poe has long been recognized as one of America’s literary talents whose body of work still influences writers, artists and those in the cinematic arts today.
Those in attendance will have an opportunity to win a framed sketch of Poe drawn by library artist David Mello. Collectible envelopes issued by the Fall River Post Office commemorating the 200th observance of Poe’s birth will be available for purchase while supply lasts.
Those attending must use the Elm Street entrance. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. In case of inclement weather, the program will take place at the library at same time on Sunday, Jan. 31.
