"The Nutcracker"

at Margaret L. Jackson Arts Center at BCC on Every Weekend from 12/19/2009 to 12/20/2009

Spindle City Ballet  has staged "The Nutcracker" every year since the ballet company formed 15 years ago.

“The Nutcracker” offers lots of opportunities for young and skilled dancers with an array of highly technical dances and costumed character roles.

Sat. 2pm & 7pm; Sun. 2pm

Spindle City's production features a combination of students at the school and seasoned professional dancers. Spindle City Ballet dance company member Kristy Reynolds will perform dual roles as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Mrs. Stahlbaum and David DuBoise is cast as Mr. Stahlbaum and a cavalier in an updated version of the fight scene. Stephanie Dessert, a student at the school will take on the lead role of Clara.

"Theatrum Naturae Et Artis"

at Narrows Center for the Arts on Every Wednesday through Saturday from 11/05/2009 to 12/20/2009 – 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

The Narrows Gallery is excited to present an exhibition of work by Lasse Antonsen that draws us into the enchanted realm of 18th century Cabinets of Curiosity and the nostalgic world of 19th Century Natural History Museums. On view will be cabinets displaying collections of Yucca plants, rare Coco-de-Mers, and artificial orchid plants from China. Many other objects will on view, including the seven vertebrae of a giraffe's neck, Alligator Gars, and a wall display of Kingfishers.
